• Swalk

Swalk is a mobile app which calculates and displays the safest way to the user’s destination. The safety assessment is based on (1) crimes reported by Swalk users every day and (2) official crime data supplied by the police.

Swalk is a mobile application that shows the users the safest route to their destination. Each single street of the route is coloured in red, yellow and green depending on their security level in real time. To create the routes, Swalk uses two sources of information:the official data from the police departments and enables the users to report crimes when lived or witnessed. The reports from the users are validated according to their profile behaviour, other profiles giving the same or similar input and the statistical analysis of the reported crimes. Swalk allows the users to share their live-location with a contact person while following a safe route, thus increasing their safety feeling. The contact person (established by each user) will be notified if the person do not follow the route anymore or if the user press the emergency button. Swalk will start giving routes only for pedestrian. As a second step, the app will create safe routes when using public transportation and automobiles.
