Our startup Socialbnb deals with the core problems of civil society in Southeast Asia.
The region, which is much visited by tourism, do not have the most elementary things in many areas of its life. To counteract this, there are about 974 active NGOs in Southeast Asia.
The problem is, that a NGO has a huge donation dependency, which compromise the success of the projects. On the other hand, they have many unused rooms.
Apart from existing providers, travelers in Southeast Asia want to experience an alternative accommodation close to locals.
Our solution: an innovative online platform that creates a network between NGOs and tourists and connects them for mutual benefit. Socialbnb deals with the financing issues of NGOs and solves this problem in an innovative way as a crowdfunding-, networking- and marketing-platform.
NGOs can register on our website with a profile, list their unused bedrooms as homestay, and thereby reduce their donation dependency.
Tourists on the other hand can book well-priced accommodation, experience the lifestyle of the "locals" during their stay, and associate this with the positive side effect of social engagement. Cause 80% of the accommodation costs are spent on the NGO (50%) and their aid project (30%).
Our vision: homestays powered by a NGO will be a real alternative for accommodations to be considered on every trip.Entering the program: Duisburg, January 2018
