Pfotenpiloten - Assistance Dog Foundation
20.05.2015
Pfotenpiloten is not training its own dogs. As an independent nonprofit we focus on improving the foundations, so that people with disabilities will find better quality, support and funding to live in team with a well-trained assistance dog.
Founded in 2015 with the help of the Social Impact Lab Frankfurt we have launched various initiatives.
We have created a mobile exhibit, that is shown at popular events throughout Germany. We are also executing an accessibility campaign ("Assistance dogs welcome!") with the German social ministry.
A EU-wide program to create a unified training and certification program is in development.
We are also involved in the EU-norming process (DIN) to create assistance dog standards, monitor the implementation of the CRPD, and support German efforts to create legislation to protect assistance dog teams.
Our Assistance Dog Foundation (in founding stage) will focus on improving quality and funding for new teams. Various strong partners are supporting this effort.
Assistance dogs are helper and friend for their handlers. At the same time they are inspiration for all of us, that demonstrate, how to see with your heart and expand what is possible.
