Organisation für nachhaltigen Konsum
20.09.2017
We analyse financial transactions and supplement them with various information about the merchants and the purchase itself. Different machine learning algorithms categorize and analyse the information. They compare it with sustainability indices and public information to determine the environmental impact of the purchase. Based on this information we find a suitable non profit organization which can “harm” the damage with a small donation if the card holder chose to donate.
For example: You buy a T-shirt at a discounter for 10.00 Euro. You will get a notification on your phone immediately after the purchase, which tells you about the manufacturing of the T-shirt, which environmental impact the chemicals in the shirt have caused, that the production of the shirt is most likely through child labour and that the cotton is cultivated by peasants to starvation wages, etc. At the same time, it is calculated that with an extra donation of 1.50 Euro to various organizations that take care of school education of nearby families, cotton growers and preparation of drinking water – this little amount will compensate the "environmental damage" which caused the production of your T-shirt.
The donations will be debited directly afterwards, so the T-shirt will cost you 11.50 Euros instead of 10.00 Euros, but it is now "environmentally neutral". The advantage is obvious: the consumer is enlightened and has the possibility to make his purchase "environmentally neutral".Entering the program: Sept. 2017
