• Natural Event

We provide composting toilets for major events, as well as informing users about the effects of inadequate sanitation – a problem that affects about 2.5 bn people. While improving sanitation locally, we promote the need for improved sanitation in emergency situations.

We strive to establish sustainable sanitation in the form of composting toilets for major events in Germany in the short term and, globally, in the long term. The Natural Event company has developed resource-saving as well as chemical-free composting toilets and is currently implementing them successfully on the Britsh festival market. Decorated by street artists, these odour-free, sustainable toilets are more appealing to spectators than conventional portable toilets.

Initially, we aim at introducing this concept to the German market before making composting toilets available throughout the world. By establishing composting toilets at music festivals, we would like to attract wide public attention to the fatal consequences of inadequate sanitation, especially in developing countries. Apart from informing people about this topic, our goal is to help make sustainable sanitation solutions socially more acceptable.

In addition, we believe that gatherings of people at major events are (in some ways) comparable to emergency situations (e.g. refugee camps). Thus, we aspire to make the concept of Natural Event usable for emergency relief in the medium to long term. In these contexts, solutions for sustainable sanitation are already implemented in pilot schemes. However, this rarely occurs on a larger scale. Establishing Natural Event at major events would also enhance the image of composting toilets with regard to emergency situations.
