Hotel Utopia
21.04.2015
The number of people who are forced to leave their home countries and seek refuge in Germany continues to increase. Yet in their search for asylum, more and more people find that they must sacrifice their dignity and independence - a situation that is only worsened by enormous barriers to the labour market.
The first project of its kind in Germany, Hotel Utopia:- offers refugees a range of employment and job training opportunities in the hotel itself, thus contributing to the long-term inclusion of refugees into German society;
- supports a paradigm shift in the perception of refugees: at Hotel Utopia, refugees are hosts, not guests;
- makes a powerful contribution to Berlin‘s and Germany‘s reputation: by providing locals, tourists and refugees with a space for face-to-face dialogue, Hotel Utopia serves as an example for successful social inclusion and sends a strong message against discrimination and xenophobia;
- effectively addresses the lack of skilled labour in the tourism and hotel industry through extensive training of refugees.
- will be a self-sustainable social business.
Prinzip Heimat e.V. is responsible for this project. Our goal is to support the inclusion of refugees into German society. To this end, refugees are actively involved as partners, not passive recipients of services: we work together at all levels in order to reclaim individual human rights and dignity while ensuring the long-term success of Hotel Utopia.
