• Follow Up

At Follow Up, we take a second look at stories. What happened to news and and people? How has the story developed? 6 months after a topic hits the general audience we direct our attention to its consequences. Thus, Follow Up is a niche journalistic product based on perseverance.

    What is Follow Up?
Follow Up is an online magazine. We describe what happened to news and people, how stories unfolded - half a year later. As the name of the magazine indicates, we take another look at and continue to observe events.

    Who's behind Follow Up?
Follow Up is a joint project of freelance journalists Tim Farin and David Korsten.

    Why Follow Up?
Daily newspapers, online media, social networks, etc. report above all on current events. Follow Up keeps selected topics in view and complements the reporting.

How does the selection of topics come about?
One criterion is the time: six months after an event, we look at it again and illuminate its consequences. We do not deal with topics that are more or less continuously present over a longer period of time. The selected topics can be relevant to the region, nationwide or internationally.

The period of six months is very arbitrary. What is the reason for this decision?
Our working hypothesis is: Three months are usually too short to describe developments; a look back 12 monhts on usually suggests that a story has already been completed. Follow Up focuses on the continuity of stories that can be described well after half a year.
