Firefly Club
27.05.2014
The Firefly Club project, through workshops, educates people with learning disabilities (intercultural impairment) to become DJs. It organises regular integrative evening events in Vienna’s clubs for people with or without disabilities.
The Firefly Club is intended as a creative platform for artists with disabilities, and later also for musicians, bands and dance groups with disabilities. The project offers opportunities for implementing creative concepts before a mixed audience in a barrier-free area – free from discrimination.
The first phase of the concept focuses through workshops on the education of DJs with learning disabilities. After completing the training, the DJs have the possibility of leading future DJ training courses themselves as paid instructors. All trained DJs can become part of the integrative evening event at the Firefly Club and also have the possibility of being put in contact with other public events as DJs through the Firefly Club.
The continuation of the concept of the Firefly Club aims to integrate more artists with disabilities into the evening event programme. The project wishes to contribute to the connection and the facilitating of contact between people with and without disabilities in a public place, thereby removing prejudices against disabled persons.
