• Direct Giver

In terms of sustainability, unneeded things should not be thrown away, but given to people in need for it. This is where Direct Giver comes into play: It provides an online platform where unneeded objects of any type can be offered for others, free of charge and non-binding.

We all have items at home which we simply do not use anymore. Often these goods are just too good to throw them away or leave them unused. So why don’t we give them to people who have a use for it? Furniture, electronics, textiles, books or the like: Direct Giver provides an internet platform where things of all types can be put online in order to give it to others.
After registration on www.directgiver.com users simply upload pictures of each item, add a short description and specify where it is located. Unlike commercial platforms Direct Giver will stay free of charge and non-binding for all persons involved.
The social aspect is the driving force for Direct Giver. It strengthens the social cohesion within a society when contacts are made without any greed for profit and when people with different social and ethnical backgrounds or religion come together. At the same time, it also increases the economic and ecological sustainability when people give items for free to others: Natural resources are treated carefully and there will be no further costs for the production of new or the removal of already existing goods. Finally, as we all know it, it is the giving which makes happy, not the possessing. Making other people happy, also makes us happy. And today’s happy taker could be tomorrow’s happy giver.
