DIGETECH - Digitale Gesundheitstechnik
08.01.2019
Although everyone has heard of digitization, many areas do not yet harness the potential of innovative technologies, such as extended reality. DIGETECH aims at using the potential of virtual reality to support social services and health care institutions in Germany.
Only few do already understand the potential of virtual reality and most people think it is just another means to play games. However, there are two relevant areas one would neglect with such a world view: the use of virtual reality in health care and social services.
The team is working on the use of VR to treat phobias as well as to ease pain in patients. Using exisiting studies from the US as a starting point, the team aims to create and to scientifically validate their own VR solutions.
Besides the direct treatment of patients, DIGETECH is also working on educational content which will be created jointly with nursing schools. Such computer-generated VR content will enable nursing students to not only experience/learn how to handle rare situations in the first place, but will also enable them to do so repeatedly. Ultimately, this will enhance the quality of their training.Entry into Programme: December 2018, AndersGründer Frankfurt
